In the past year there has been several times when band members have had arguments over social media and have expressed their feelings - even though maybe they shouldn't have.
I'll simply state this, not everyone can like you or what you do. Not at all people will be able to see the talents of others, and often they cannot see past the bad.
In day to day life we're used to confrontation between others (which is highly unfortunate), but in the music world it's usually kept quite and away from fans.
Note that I said usually. Lately whenever a band has issues with another band, they tend to tweet about it or comment on the other bands photos; putting it out there for the whole fan base and world to see.
Quite often the fan's enjoy both bands are feel like they're forced to pick a side, regardless of their musical opinion of both.
Here's the thing, you don't have to pick a side. It sounds crazy, but you just don't have to. There isn't a need for fan bases to split between to bands, and there isn't a need for the opposing fan bases to attack the member from the other side.
Adding fuel to the flame doesn't solve anything, it often makes it worse not only for the member who is having people raging at them but it can also make it worse for you. And here's why: Often times when you pick a side and began to tweet negative things to the band member or members, fans of those bands will ultimately begin to defend their band. I mean, wouldn't you?
What you can do when bands are at war: Nothing. It's simple, people fight and it isn't necessary for you to take sides. Just continue to like each band member and focus on their positive qualities. It can be difficult to ignore the negativity between the bands and it is hard to get away from seeing other people on social networks stating whose "wrong" and whose "right", but you really can do it.
Just remember, band members are normal people that just happen to be very talented. It doesn't make them incapable of disliking someone, and to each their own.
