Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian rock band that was formed in 2001. The band, however, does have other music style traits such as post-grunge, alternative rock, and acoustic.
Theory of a Deadman played at the state fair this year in September, and my wonderful mom won tickets and took me with her!
Upon meeting TOADM I could instantly feel the positive energy. All members were extremely friendly, very kind, and open. Each member took the time to converse with fans and take pictures with them. They were also very compliant, when my mom asked them to give her bunny ears, they did! Their polite and humble attitudes made them very enjoyable to be around, therefore I've decided to give them a 10/10 on FF.
Of course, the most important part of this all if performance!
Despite poor crowd interaction in the beginning (remember, you're at a concert, not a funereal) TOADM started off with a bang! Even after a while the band did get the crowd up and dancing, as well as singing along to the songs they knew.
The band had wonderful crowd interaction and chose songs that appealed to the crowd, such as their popular well known songs on previous records. Emotions could also be felt on certain songs, making the crowd really "feel" the songs. Also they did play a rendition of Alice & Chains "Your Decision" as well as playing a bit of Guns N' Roses "Paradise City", and they did both songs justice! It was really nice to see a rock band do an acoustic cover at a show, in fact I think this was a first for me!
The sound was all around excellent!
Tyler Connolly (Vocalist & Lead Guitarist) had great pitch, kept time well, and you could understand every word that he was saying, no guessing whatsoever! Not to mention that he had a pretty sexy microphone at one point! Tyler's impressed me with his ability to play guitar and sing at the same time which really showed his talent, because we all know that not just anybody can do that and manage to do it well.
Joey Dandeneau (Drummer) was a powerhouse the entire time! As far as I could tell, believe me I'm
no drum expert, he was spot on! Joey produced a wonderful sound and was also very energetic, it seemed like he was having a good time up there on stage!
Dean Back (Bassist) along with Dave Brenner (Guitarist) had incredible energy, it was really enjoyable to watch both of them up on stage interacting with each other and the other members. They truly did know the meaning of putting on a good show!
Altogether I thought the band was just wonderful, and it great to have the opportunity to meet them and see them perform! If ever given the chance, I believe that everyone should attend one of their shows!
