Several years ago Erick was diagnosed with cancer, had a successful surgery and what seemed to be a full recovery. Recently Erick was rushed to the Mayo Clinic for an emergency operation to remedy what was thought to be unrelated blockages in his digestive system. This procedure turned into a 12 hour surgery where doctors removed 2 cancerous tumors involving his colon and intestines.
6 days ago we were updated on how Erick is doing, he posted:
"Well, I'm back in the hospital. Started yesterday with my first chemotherapy treatment and it went down hill from there. Apparently my kidney (I only have one that works) was failing and I was also at risk for a major cardiovascular event. I'm tired, depressed and concerned. I did dialysis last night and they are putting a tube in my kidney today. I would like to request a few things from my friends and family. First ride your bicycles and think of me. Second, when you see my kids tell them a story about our friendship and something fun we did. Third make sure my kids are good kids, it takes a village. Please hug my wife for me when you see her. And please say a prayer for us.
Thank you very much,
Erick Riedell."
As you can tell, this update doesn't sound good, and this deeply saddens us to see someone who is so active in their community and with music to be going through this along with their family.
As anyone can imagine, cancer is quite stressful and very expensive.
The goal of this fund is to raise contributions for him, his wife and young sons. These contributions will help to pay expenses and medical bills as Erick begins down the road to recovery.
Erick is one of the kindest, most gracious and upbeat people this planet has ever been blessed with. He will literally give a stranger the shirt off his back. He has done so much for so many, let us now take a little time to help him. Any small or large contribution is deeply appreciated by his family and friends.
