Occupy! is a Punk/Grunge rock band from Reading, UK consisting of Ashley Miles -Lead vocals & Guitar, Alex Mulliner - Bass Guitar and backing vocals, and Daryl Molloy - Drums.
The band has recently released their single "Freaks" from their upcoming EP "We're all Freaks and Fiends"(Release Date TBA)
Rating: 10/10☆
On the Song: It's a yes from me! "Freaks" definitely has an upbeat punk/grunge feel! You can really hear some of the bands influences such as Nirvana, Sex Pistols, and The Beatles throughout the course of the song, and though they may take cues from their influences, Occupy! is in no way just another "generic" punk/grunge band. Occupy! surely defies all other upcoming bands of this genre.
The bands single, titled "Freaks", is extremely catchy and is sure to get stuck in your head for days! The lyrics are well thought of, well written, catchy and has a signature sort of writing that directly correlates with their upcoming EP name "We're all Freaks and Fiends".
Vocals, Guitar, Bass and Drums:
☆Ashley Miles' has wonderful vocals which can be called no less than kick-ass. On this particular song, Ashley sounds a bit like a blend between Kurt Cobain and John Lydon - something which I thoroughly enjoyed! And we of course can't forget his guitar skills, a catchy unforgettable sound!
☆Alex Mulliner can be actually heard throughout the song! I was really pleased with Alex's sound and what he had offered up to the song. The combination of his bass skills and backing vocals make Alex stick out from the rest.
☆Daryl Molloy is just fantastic on drums! The fast pace and technique used with the drums is what really makes the song upbeat and definitely contributes to the bands punk side! Like the other members of Occupy!, Daryl is a very excellent and promising drummer.
I look forward to Occupy!'s upcoming EP release, as well as looking forward to see what the future holds for this group of talented musicians. I expect to see great things from them and will hopefully have many future updates on what the band is doing!
